Font Romeu Altitude Training
Located in the south-west of France, high up in the Pyrenees (1850m above sea level), Font Romeu has been the altitude training venue of choice for many elite athletes, having hosted the likes of Mo Farah and Paula Radcliffe in the past. Over the past few years, BUAC have taken a cohort of its athletes to the venue over the Easter holidays. Around 40-50 of our middle distance and endurance athletes venture over to France to experience the benefits of altitude training for the coming season.
With a 6-lane synthetic 400m track, gym & swim facilities and countless trails to run on (including the very scenic Lac de Matemale), it makes an ideal location for a 3-4 week training camp. With the expertise of altitude veterans such as Luke Gunn, Hannah England, and author of "Notes from Higher Grounds - An Altitude Training Guide" Elizabeth Egan, Birmingham is one of only a handful of universities to offer such a trip, so not an opportunity to be missed.
